Children will read about pumpkins and pies at Story Time on November 7. It will be a yummy morning for preschoolers who join us at 10:30 AM.

Monsters University is the movie showing on Wednesday, November 13, at 1:15 PM. This flick looks at the relationship between Mike and Sulley during their days at Monsters University – when they weren’t necessarily the best of friends.

The Waste Trac Education Team is helping us celebrate America Recycles Day with a program for families to drop in and do upcycling craft projects. Crafts are on Wednesday, November 13, from 1 to 3:30 PM.

We will have a squealing good piggy program for preschoolers at Story Time on November 14.  This adventure includes a trip to the La Porte City FFA Historical & Ag Museum to read books about pigs.

Hawkins’ Handcrafters meet on Thursday, November 14, from 1 to 3 PM. Bring any craft project you are working on and join other crafty people at the library.

Hear the latest in the “Lost Counties of Iowa” series by exploring the history of Linn County with us. On Monday, November 18, at 6 PM, author Linda Betsinger McCann will talk about her newest book Lost Linn County, Vanished Towns of the Cedar Valley.

Fourth graders and older can register and pick up the Kids’ Wild About Books Club November book selection Firegirl.  In this book Tom is a seventh-grader, negotiating a slightly prickly friendship with Jeff…The arrival of new girl Jessica Feeney, however, changes everything; Jessica, has been badly burned by a fire, and her terrible disfigurement shocks the class into confusion. This isn’t the usual book about adjustment to difference; instead the kids’ struggle to manage the intrusion of abnormality in their lives. This group will meet on Wednesday, November 20, at 3:45 PM at the library.

In November, sale books by authors with D, E, or F last names, are buy one, get one free. Scour our selection on the shelves for these bargains.

Bring non-perishable food and personal care items to the library to pay fines during the month of November.  Your fine total will be reduced by $2.00 for each item brought in during Food For Fines Month.  Distribution of donated goods will be local through The Lord’s Food Pantry.
