It will be a delicious Story Time on Thursday, October 16, at 10:30 AM when preschoolers read about, eat, and do apple activities.
Please stop for our open house from 1 to 8 PM on Thursday, October 16, to view the recently painted library interior, and to recognize Paint Iowa Beautiful, Diamond Vogel, and Keep Iowa Beautiful for a grant that helped supply the library with paint.
Chocolate treats will be shared during the annual Chamber of Commerce Chocolate Walk on Thursday, October 16. Collect yummy chocolate at the library from 5:30 to 8 PM.
Olive Kitteridge, by Elizabeth Stout, is the October 20, 1 PM book club discussion selection. Pick up a copy of this book at the library and join the group.
October is Computer Learning Month. Sign up to participate in a basic computer use class for Windows, scheduled for Monday, October 20, 4:30 PM. Register at the library.
Computer Tech Time is on Tuesday, October 21, at 9 AM. Get computer help and learn specific programs using LearningExpress, available through the library.
Casper is the perfect Halloween movie for an early school out on Wednesday, October 22, at 1:15 PM. A paranormal expert and his daughter bunk in an abandoned house populated by three mischievous ghosts and one friendly one.
Children will read Halloween stories at Story Time on Thursday, October 23.
There’s a great deal on sale books by authors with last names beginning with A, B and C during the month of October. They are a meager $.25! Support the library.
Get your 2nd or 3rd grader in the Reading is Fun Book Club. Readers meet monthly to tell about one chapter book they have recently read. Kids read and share a book of their choice, and don’t have to read books they aren’t interested in. This group will meet on Thursday, November 6, at 4 PM for their first discussion. Register at the library.
Order your fresh greenery for the holidays locally! Decorated Wreaths, 25’ outdoor garland, and wreath door hangers can be purchased now, for pickup staring Nov. 30. Proceeds benefit Hawkins Memorial Library.
