We will howl about Halloween at Preschool Story Time on Thursday, October 23, at 10:30 AM. Children can delight in stories and activities for the upcoming holiday and have a spooky good time on Thursday morning.
Bring any craft project you are working on; knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, embroidery, etc., and join other crafty people at the library for Hawkins’ Handcrafters. This group meets on Thursday, October 23, from 1 to 3 PM.
Kids can creep into the library to create Halloween crafts on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, October 29 – 31. Craft projects will be available all day.
On October 30, at 10:30 AM, adorable costumed preschoolers will parade to La Porte City businesses and trade a trick for a treat for Story Time Trick-or-Treating. We will march through downtown rain or shine.
The library is welcoming Trick-or-Treaters on Thursday, October 31. From 3 to 6 PM, costume clad kids get a treat when they stop in the library on Halloween.
Get your 2nd or 3rd grader in the Reading is Fun Book Club. Readers meet monthly to tell about one chapter book they have recently read. Kids read and share a book of their choice. This group will meet on Thursday, November 6, at 4 PM for their first discussion. Register at the library.
Kid’s Wild About Books Club on Tuesday, November, 18 at 3:45 PM, will discuss writings by Gordon Korman. Kids age 4th grade and older can register at the library and should read at least one Gordon Korman book before the discussion date.
Decorated Wreaths, 25’ outdoor garland, and wreath door hangers can be purchased from Hawkins Memorial Library. Pickup starts Nov. 30, and proceeds benefit the library. Order your fresh greenery for the holidays locally!
