Two eBook titles are available for unlimited access through BRIDGES on the library website,, from October 7–21. The Big Library Read is back, and we’re offering The Door in the Hedge by Robin McKinley and In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters to enjoy.
The next Story Time adventure is on Thursday, October 8, 10:30 AM for Fire Prevention Week. Preschoolers will learn and practice fire safety with a La Porte City Fire and Rescue fireman.
Hawkins Handcrafters is on Thursday, October 8, 1-3 PM. Grab a friend and your handwork and join this group for two hours of relaxing work.
Collect chocolate at the library from 5:30 to 8 PM, on Thursday, October 8. Chocolate treats will be given out for the annual Chamber of Commerce Chocolate Walk.
Children will read about apples, eat apples, and do apple activities at Story Time on October 15. It will be delicious!
The next early out movie is The Little Vampire on Wednesday, October 21, at 1:15 PM. In this Halloween flick a lonely boy becomes best friends with a vampire.
Sign-up for a basic computer class teaching you how to use Microsoft Word. On Tuesday, October 27, at 9 AM, bring your questions, learn how to create documents and get computer help during this one-hour class. A $5.00 registration fee will hold your place and is refunded upon attendance. October is Computer Learning Month. Register at the library.
