Read an eBook Day, observed on Friday, September 18, is a celebration of modern storytelling. Borrow your eBooks and audio books from the library through the BRIDGES program, Iowa’s eLibrary. Click the BRIDGES link (previously called NEIBORS) on our website www.laportecity.lib.ia.us, and browse the BRIDGES library. E-Books and audio books are loaned for two weeks at no cost to you.
For Bargains on the Bricks, Saturday, September 19, 9 AM to 4 PM, the library will be on Main Street fundraising. Don’t miss our gift items, bake sale, book sale, and more. Sale books are $6 a bag. And you can help us by donating baked goods.

Banned Books Week, September 27 – October 3, is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Check out banned and challenged books from our display, read freely, and judge the content for yourself.
Available on the catalog page on our library website is EBSCOhost. This database provides nearly 1,700 periodicals dating as far back as 1975, and EBSCO discovery technologies which includes Kids Search for grades K-8, a Student Research Center for grades 6-12, the Searchasaurus, a Small Business Reference Center, and Explora for primary schools, public Libraries and the Educator’s Edition. This is a great source for extra information and research.
