This is Banned Books Week, an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Judge the content of questionable books for yourself by checking out banned and challenged books from our display. Read freely!
UHS football players and cheerleaders will read to children at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 25. Preschoolers can practice throwing a football and learn a cheer to celebrate Union’s Homecoming during Story Time. And everyone will be decorating the sidewalk to show their Union spirit. Don’t miss the excitement.
Bring a project you are working on and join other handcrafters at the library for a time of work and conversation at Hawkins’ Handcrafters on Thursday, September 25, from 1 to 3 PM.
Preschool Story Time on Thursday, October 2 will have everyone thinking fall. Join us for lots of autumn fun at 10:30 AM.
The movie Toy Story of Terror shows on Wednesday, October 8, 1:15 PM. While on a road trip, an unexpected event leads the toys to a roadside motel. After one toy goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious, monstrous, and terrifying sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate. Popcorn comes with the movie.
Fire Prevention Week starts on October 5. Learn and practice fire safety with a fireman at Preschool Story Time that Thursday, October 9.
Books written by Roald Dahl are the discussion selection for the Kid’s Wild About Books Club on Tuesday, October 14, at 3:45 PM. Kids age 4th grade and older should register at the library, and check out and read at least one of the Roald Dahl books before the discussion date.
Make sure you mark your calendars for the annual Chamber of Commerce Chocolate Walk on Thursday, October 16. The library will have treats.
