The movie Oliver and Company is showing at 1:15 PM on Wednesday, September 25. In this delightful flick, a lost and alone kitten joins a gang of dogs engaged in petty larceny in New York. Stop in for a movie, popcorn, and games.

Hawkins’ Handcrafters meet on Thursday, September 26, from 1-3 PM. Bring your handwork and join us for a couple of hours to complete a work in progress, or start something new.

Preschool Story Time participants will be visiting the La Porte City FFA Historical & Ag Museum on September 26. Children will hear books about animals around the farm and try their hand at milking the cow. This program starts at the library at 10:30 AM.

Kids’ Wild About Books Club, for kids ages 4th grade and up, will meet to talk about the book Savvy, by Ingrid Law, on Wednesday, October 16, at 3:45 PM.  To participate stop at the library, register, check out a Savvy book to read before the group meets, and come back on October 16, for the discussion.

As part of the Big Library Read program, Hawkins Memorial Library will be featuring Nancy Clancy, Super Sleuth in both eBook and audiobook formats until September 30. The library is searching for new or used holiday cards for a recycling craft. And we would also gladly accept Christmas decorations that you are willing to part with. Drop off donations at the library.

Sale hardcover books, paperbacks, and VHS tapes are selling for the bargain price of $6.00 per bag at the library through the end of September.
