September is Library Card Sign-Up Month. Did you know there are more than 2 million registered borrowers in Iowa public libraries and that 68% of Iowans are registered cardholders? Preschoolers will learn about using their library at Story Time on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 10:30 AM. Youngsters are invited to Preschool Story Time each week for stories, activities, and crafts on Thursday mornings during the school year. Bring your preschooler for this fun and free program.
Read a Book Day is September 6. Reading is a great lifetime hobby and it offers so many positive attributes. It’s relaxing and therapeutic. It’s educational. And it’s entertaining. If you have young children, or elderly people in your home, take the time to read a book to them today. This is a wonderful time to bond and it creates pleasant, lasting memories.
Join us at the library to hear Author Linda McCann speak about her new book, Prohibition in Eastern Iowa, on Tuesday, September 9, at 6 PM. It will be a great evening full of interesting tales as Linda shares stories that tell how the normal person was swept up into the prohibition craziness.
On Wednesday, September 10, at 1:15 PM, A Bug’s Life is the early out movie. A misfit ant, looking for “warriors” to save his colony from greedy grasshoppers, recruits a group of bugs that turn out to be an inept circus troupe.
There is no better place to read about books than a library! And that’s what’s happening at 10:30 AM at Preschool Story Time on Thursday, September 11. Bring the kids for lots of reading and activities.
