Garlic Mustard Volunteer Day
Help pull out the intrusive Garlic Mustard on Saturday, April 5 from 1-4 PM at Hickory Hills Park. Hickory Hills has partnered with Tom Schilke and others from the Prairie Rapids Audubon Society to pull the plant before it goes to seed. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Archers Shelter. If Garlic Mustard is not pulled it will replace the Toothworts, Sweet Williams, Jack-in-the-Pulpits, Dutchman’s Breeches and more!

Hickory Hills Wildlife Exhibit
The Black Hawk County Conservation Board has been notified by the Young Family Foundation that they have issued a $10,000 challenge grant for a $40,000 upgrade of the Wildlife Exhibit at Hickory Hills. Al Finke, Park Ranger, has begun the process of raising private dollars to match this $10,000. The BHCCB will provide $20,000 in REAP funding for this project. Hopefully, the work on this project can begin this summer.
