Parent-teacher conferences throughout the Union School District will be held earlier this school year, with several new offerings at the high school level. Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, August 28 from 2-6 PM and Thursday, August 29 from 3-8 PM. There will be no school on Friday, August 30 or Monday, September 2.

At Union High School, in addition to the face to face opportunity to discuss their own student(s), parents will have the opportunity to attend mini-courses on Canvas, Active Grade & Standards-Based Grading, JMC, and social media tools. All of the tools and topics listed are will be very helpful for parents and students.  Each mini course will be approximately 15 minutes in length on a rotating basis starting at 4 PM, until the conclusion of conferences. The mini-courses will take place in the band room at the high school.

  • Canvas (Electronic Learning Management System): a web-based tool for students, parents, and teachers, includes a calendar and will be loaded with course content for students.
  • Active-Grade: (Electronic Grade Book), a system used for those courses on standards-based grading
  • Standards-Based Grading: a grading system designed more specifically around what a student knows and can demonstrate versus a traditional points system.
  • JMC (Student Information System): a program which compiles student information on attendance, grades, lunch, and personal information
  • Social Media Tools: This session will discuss Twitter, Instragram, and Snap Chat.
