Union High School freshmen and their parents are invited to attend a presentation entitled High School Success on Wednesday, August 28 at 5 PM in the UHS Band/Vocal room.

The talk will be given by a representative from the Iowa College Access Network. Designed to accent the I Have A Plan Iowa and the four-year plan curriculum, the High School Success program engages young students in the planning process through interactive discussion and activities. Utilizing the KnowHow2GO program, students will follow the Five Steps to Self Discovery, discuss career and college options and set goals for the future. The following topics are covered during the presentation:

  • www.ihaveaplaniowa.gov and Graduation Requirements
  • Career and Interest Assessments
  • Post-High School Planning
  • Employer Expectations
  • Admission Requirements

It is a 45-60 minute presentation presenting the opportunity to get students and parents off on the right foot in high school. While not a mandatory meeting, freshmen¬† students are strongly encouraged to attend. Students will receive several handouts including a “High School Success” booklet and freshmen planning/countdown calendar.
