I always like to acknowledge the various programs that keep us busy at our home (LPC Nursing & Rehabilitation Center). First, I want to comment on the weather. It really hasn’t been the best weather here, but our hearts go out to the folks in the northern and eastern areas of the country where they have had many feet of snow and blizzard conditions.
This past week we recognized those residents who have a birthday in the month of February. The ladies of Sacred Heart Church brought delicious cakes and with our ice cream, it made a nice afternoon for us residents. Five were honored and each received a gift.
Other entertainment included a sing-a-long led by Linda Jacobsen with her electronic music system. This being the month of love and valentines, many songs were love songs of the 30’s through the 60’s and all familiar to our residents. She concluded her program with all present singing “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” a favorite of all.
Tuesday we played Bingo, and enjoyed a cookie and drink at the end of the afternoon – thanks to the Catholic ladies for our treats and help.
Our weekly church service was held on Thursday morning with Pastor Rokke from American Lutheran here. He brought us a good message and communion. We do appreciate the ministers and others sharing with us.
Saturday mornings a volunteer comes and fix ladies’ fingernails, readying us for Sunday afternoon when there is an ice cream social for residents and their guests. Do stop in and visit, and enjoy the ice cream with us.
