When the University of Northern Iowa Panther Marching Band (PMB) takes the stage at the Gallager Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on Monday, November 17, for a historic concert event, a Union High School alumnus will be among them. Joel Wauters, a member of the Union High School Class of 2014 is one of 330 students that make up the largest Panther Marching Band in UNI history. The band’s concert in the Great Hall will be the first live performance on stage in PMB history.
The November 17 concert will serve as a fundraiser, with proceeds being used to fund a trip to London, where 179 members of the band will perform in the famous London New Year’s Day Parade in England. The New Year’s Day Parade is the largest event of its kind, with more than 8,000 participants performing for a large street audience, as well as half a million people watching on television.
The concert will feature much of the band’s music it has performed during this season’s football games. The concert will be recorded and available for purchase on CD.
Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 319-273-4TIX. For more information on ordering concert tickets or how to assist the PMB in their upcoming trip to London, contact band director Danny Galyen at danny.galyen@uni.edu or 319-273-2173.
