The La Porte Planning & Zoning Commission has a member that is coming to the end of their five year appointed term. This vacancy is open to any resident wishing to serve. The voluntary board consists of nine Council appointed members who hear matters pertaining to development and make recommendations on such matters to the City Council. Meetings are scheduled as needed on the third Mondays of the month.

The City of La Porte City is seeking applicants to fill an unexpired term on the La Porte City Utility Board of Trustees. The term will begin upon appointment and expire September 1, 2015.  The appointment is anticipated to take place at the January 13, 2014 City Council Meeting. Powers and duties of the Board consist of controlling properties, equipment and processes in relation to the combined utility system, and to report detailed financial statements to the City.  This Board meets regularly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 5:00 PM at the Utility Office, located at 403 Main Street.
