Karen Sue Wellner, 56, of La Porte City, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes. She was born February 8, 1958 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of John and Bonnie (Long) Freeman. She graduated from LaSalle High School in Cedar Rapids and received her Computer Programming Degree from Kirkwood College. She married Mike Jump in 1978 in Cedar Rapids, they were later divorced. She married Don Timmons in 1983 in Cedar Rapids, they were later divorced. She married Randy Wellner at the Little Brown Church in Nashua in 1989.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed making crafts, cooking, watching Ghost Adventures, fishing and the outdoors. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her father, John Freeman of Inman, South Carolina; her husband, Randy of La Porte City; three sons, Mike (Laura) Jump of Waterloo, Dustin (Nikki) Timmons of La Porte City, Brandon (Brooke Trimble) Wellner of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Amanda (Josh Newton) Wellner of La Porte City; six grandchildren, Austin, Hayley and Kylie Hart, Abel Timmons, Liam Jump and Addison Newton and one sister, Sharon (Bruce) Fainley of Inman, South Carolina.
Preceding her in death was her mother.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at La Porte City Funeral Home with inurnment in the West View Cemetery at a later date.
