Council Sets Trick-or-Treat Hours

The City Council of La Porte City met on September 28, 2015, as Mayor David Neil called the meeting to order with all council members present except for Eric Allsup. The relatively light agenda allowed the City’s business to be conducted in just 35 minutes.

As part of the consent agenda items, the Council set official trick-or-treat hours in La Porte City for 5:30-7:30 PM on Saturday, October 31.

As the Downtown Façade Improvement project continues to move forward, the Council authorizes the transfer of $25,000 into a fund created specifically to help manage the City’s financial pledge, which will total $150,000.

Sherry Sheffler addressed the Council on behalf of the FFA Historical and Ag Museum, making a request for shared roofing expenses. A portion of the museum’s roof near the elevator is the source of a leak in need of repair. Sheffler presented two estimates for the Council’s consideration. Mayor Neil will make a contractor recommendation at the October 12, 2015 City Council Meeting.

In other action, the Council adopted resolutions to purchase property located at 800 Commercial Street and set the salary for the temporary Ambulance Billing Clerk position. The Council also accepted the offer of donation of RAGBRAI bicycle art for display near the Cedar Valley Nature Trail.
