The Black Hawk County Fair Board invites the community to join in the fun at the Black Hawk County 4-H and FFA Fair, scheduled for July 23-27 at the National Cattle Congress, 257 Ansborough Avenue in Waterloo.  The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available on Cattle Congress grounds.

The Black Hawk County 4-H and FFA Fair highlights work of 4-H youth and FFA in the county. Exhibits and project entries include livestock and non-livestock projects from youth ages 5 years and older. A complete list of fair activities is on-line at www.extension.iastate.edu/blackhawk/

The fair features traditional livestock shows, including beef, swine, sheep, and dairy and small animal shows, including dog agility, poultry, cavy and rabbit hopping, a special herding demonstration, kid’s barn tours and hundreds of non-livestock entries in these project areas: child development, clothing, food & nutrition, home improvement, horticulture, personal development, science & engineering and visual arts.

New this year at the fair are theme days:  Thursday is Ag Day; Friday is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Day and Saturday is Move It Day! Many hands-on demonstrations are planned. See chicks hatch, participate in a youth service learning project, or watch the shooting  sports demonstration at the School House…all this at this year’s 101st Black Hawk County 4-H and FFA Fair.
