Area residents may have encountered freezing of their water or sewer lines during the record-setting cold winter. The office of La Porte City Utilities reminds its customers that during the next month or so, as the weather (eventually) warms, the lines that carry water and sewage will be subject to temperatures that can freeze and thaw them. As a precautionary measure, homeowners may want to run a small amount of water continuously, to help prevent pipes from freezing and bursting.
Unfortunately, La Porte City Utilities will not be able to make any adjustments to customers’ bills for the additional water usage they may incur by doing this.
Customers with questions are encouraged to contact the Utility Office at 319-342-3139.
