New Thoughts For The New Year: The New Born King
“Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising and have come to pay him homage.”
If you follow the church calendar and read this on January sixth, then you know today is the Day of Epiphany. You may also know that Epiphany has traditionally marked the arrival of the Wise Men to see baby Jesus. I’ve always liked that account in the Bible because it talks about people who journeyed forward in faith. They trusted that the light of the star and that God would lead them to find this new born king.
We are now only a few days into the new year. It is a reminder of the journey we make in our lives. What will we encounter in the year ahead? What new things will we experience or what trials may be ahead for us? Of course we don’t know the answers to these questions, but like the Wise Men we are called to go forward in faith. We go forward trusting that the light of Christ will lead us to whatever is ahead.
My hope and prayer for all of you is that the light of Christ would shine for you in this season and in the year ahead. I hope that your journey will be easy and fulfilling. But if you should encounter difficulty along the way, my prayer is that you would see the light of His presence to lead you and guide you through.
