A Union Middle School team participated in the finals of the “Battle of the Books” (BOB) regional competition at Simpson College on March 29, placing 12th out of the 50 teams.
BOB is a reading competition designed to encourage students to read. Teams of five or six students read novels from a pre-selected list of 30 books. Students on a BOB team have each read five or more books since October. In February and March the teams “battle” by identifying authors’ names and answering fact-based questions about the books. The BOB team members are coached by Mrs. Vada Elliott.
The top 15 teams throughout the state engage in a final battle to determine the top team in Iowa.
