“Go west, young man,” indeed. After 25 years of repairing and restoring vehicles at a familiar location on U.S. Highway 218, Mike Chingren has moved his business to 1427 East Tama Road, just five minutes west of La Porte City. The move became necessary when Chingren was notified last year that the building he was leasing had been sold.
Located near the intersection of East Tama Road and Highway 21, Black Hawk Auto has a beautiful new building to call home. Chingren has used the move as an opportunity incorporate new equipment and upgrade many apsects of his operation.
“I’ve been very fortunate and blessed to get support from the citizens of La Porte and the surrounding area,” he stated.
In response to that support, and as a way of encouraging new and longtime customers to enjoy the benefits of his new location, Chingren has extended his hours of operation to 7 PM on weeknights.
“It’s important that people understand that state law gives them a choice where they want their vehicle fixed,” he added.
Chingren’s commitment to customer service streamlines the insurance claim process, provides the customer with prompt and accurate estimates and includes transportation home, if needed.
While excited to have the opportunity to rebuild his business from the ground up, the move to a new location has also been bittersweet. The lack of available real estate or existing buildings in La Porte City conducive to the needs of his business forced him to look elsewhere for a new home.
To celebrate the opening of Black Hawk Auto Refinishers at his new location, Chingren will host an Open House on June 6, from 4:30-7:30. In addition to a variety of door prizes, food will be catered by Millers Top Fuel Barbecue. The public is encouraged to stop by, enjoy some good food and learn more about the services Black Hawk Auto offers.
