As I start to write my column, Mother Nature is giving us a rain shower. It is really coming down like cats and dogs. We do need the moisture and the temperature to warm up and then I’m sure the perennials and garden plants would really get a good start.

Our Sunday afternoon social hour was well attended. We had some real good chocolate ice cream for making sundaes. For those not liking chocolate, there were a couple other flavors to choose from. Come and bring your family and have fellowship with family and friends who are residents here at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center. I’m sure they would be glad for your visit.

Many of the residents enjoy playing different kinds of board games. Some like to play cards, too, like Pepper, “500”, Bridge and others with their buddies. Stop by and offer to play – it helps pass time for all concerned. Chickenfoot is also a game that is good for all ages. We always enjoy company!

Once a month we have a birthday party for residents who are celebrating a birthday that month. In April we celebrated five residents’ birthdays. They each received a gift and had ice cream and cake. Members of the St. Paul United Methodist Church Women’s Group supplied the cake and had a good visit with us.

Every week we have something to keep us busy. Stop in and see what we are up to. So long for now.
