The Waterloo Community Playhouse’s Artistic Director, Greg Holt, will be leading the  Parabola Youth Theatre, this school year. Parabola is open to all high school aged students in the state of Iowa.

Parabola will explore film acting, flash mobs, improvisation and other theatrical topics designed to be rewarding, fun and occasionally, challenging. Whether you plan to continue an education in theatre after high school, or pursue a different path, theatre training will help build confidence, give you a chance to support others and allow you to think quickly on your feet.

The world “parabola” was chosen because in mathematics, it means all points are equal and we emphasize an equal ensemble approach to our work. Also the plural of “parabola” has the same meaning as “parables”, which are stories with a lesson or moral. We strive to give our performances meaning, both for us and our audiences.

The group will meet on most Thursdays during the school year from 5:30-7:00 pm. Tuition for the class is $160 for the school year.  There is a discount for those students whose families are either WCP or BHCT members. Scholarship assistance is also available on a case by case basis.
