The Cedar Prairie Group of the Sierra Club is sponsoring a guided prairie walk and talk at Bearbower Sand Prairie on Sunday, September 22, beginning at 2 PM. Bruce Stiles will lead the walk.

Bearbower Sand Prairie is located two miles west off of Highway 150 off the Buchanan-Benton County Line Road. Participants may meet at 1:30 PM at Crossroads Shopping Center in Waterloo in front of the Driver’s License station next to Sears if wanting to car pool or caravan to the park. Directions and maps will be provided.

The Bearbower Sand Prairie is a 40 acre native prairie and contains many rare prairie plants. Prickly pear cacti, ornate box turtles, and a variety of prairie grasses and flowers are hoped to be veiwed. Participants are encouraged to wear long pants, cover arms and to bring water.  For more information and directions call Bruce at 319-235-9907.

The Sierra Club executive committee wants participants to be aware hunting is permitted in the park and may be underway during the walk.
