Richard D. Wagner, 81, of La Porte City, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at CovenantMedicalCenter of natural causes.  He was born January 5, 1932, in La PorteCity, the son of Matthias J. and Mathilda Frein Wagner.

He had worked on the Railroad for a short time and then retired after working as a Custodian for the La Porte City Schools for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by one brother, Arnold (Dorothy) Wagner of Aplington; one sister, Frances Heffner of Aplington and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Edwin and Robert Wagner and four sisters, Adeline Flaig, Dorothy Kruse, Jane Betts and Marie Hilmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery (Eagle Center).  Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La PorteCity, with a Rosary Service at 4:00 p.m.  Visitation will also be held one hour before the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or CedarValley Hospice.
