The public is invited to join the Cedar Prairie Group of Iowa Sierra Club and Buchanan County Conservation for an informative tour of the Rowley Fen at the northwest edge of Rowley (on Lucas Ave. ¼ mi. N of D47/290th St.) in Buchanan County on Tuesday, June 3 at 10 AM, rain or shine (but not if stormy). Dan Cohen, Director of the Buchanan County Conservation Board and botanist Doug Houseal will provide instruction as to what constitutes a fen and about various members of habitat community, including flowers, grasses, frogs, birds, etc.
The tour will last approximately one hour. Part of the area may be wet so come prepared to tromp around on some soggy ground. Bug spray, bins, hiking stick, and camera are recommended. The event is FREE so bring your curiosity and a friend!
