The Election Division of the Black Hawk County Auditor’s Office will operate several satellite absentee voting centers prior to the November 4, 2014 General Election.
Satellite voting allows people to vote prior to the election at a location other than the county courthouse. Satellites may be established by the Auditor’s Office or by petitions with the signatures of 100 eligible voters.
Sites and times are as follows:
Wednesday, October 22 ONLY, Noon to 6:00 PM:
• Union High School, 200 Adams St., La Porte City. Available ballots: La Porte City and the following townships: Big Creek, Cedar, Eagle, Fox, Poyner Pct. 2, Spring Creek.
Monday through Friday, October 20-24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (available ballots include entire county):
• Maucker Union, UNI Campus, Cedar Falls
• Redeker Dining Center, UNI Campus, W 27th and Minnesota Sts., Cedar Falls
• College Square Mall, Younkers Hallway Entrance, 6301 University Ave., Cedar Falls (also open Saturday, October 25, 9:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
• Waterloo Public Library, Main Level Rooms A & B, 415 Commercial St., Waterloo (the library will NOT be open for voting on Tuesday, October 21)
• Payne AME Church, 1044 Mobile St., Waterloo (use Oneida St. entrance on October 22)
Thursday, October 23 ONLY:
• Hudson Community Center, Lower Level, 525 Jefferson, Hudson. Voting 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Available ballots: Hudson and the following townships: Black Hawk, Eagle, Lincoln, Orange.
• Wind Cove, Western Home Community, East Library, 5300 S. Main Street Rd. Voting 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Available ballots: Cedar Falls and the following townships: Black Hawk, Cedar Falls, Mt. Vernon, Union, Washington.
• Friendship Village, Chapel Room and Entrance, 600 Park Lane, Waterloo. Voting 11:00 AM-5:00 PM. Available ballots: Waterloo City precincts.
Friday, October 24 ONLY:
• Dunkerton Public Library, Conference Room, 203 E. Tower St., Dunkerton. Voting 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Available ballots: Dunkerton and the following townships: Barclay, Bennington, East Waterloo, Fox, Poyner Pct. 1, Lester.
The votes cast at satellites are absentee ballots, and voters have to fill out both a ballot application and an affidavit envelope. When they are done voting they need to seal the ballot in the envelope, SIGN THE ENVELOPE, and put it in the ballot box. These ballots will be counted with other absentee ballots on Election Day.
Voter registration forms will also be available at the satellite for persons who are unregistered or have moved. The voter registration form requires the voter’s driver’s license number, non-operator driver’s license number or the last four digits of the voter’s Social Security number.
