A one-hour collection of La Porte City street scenes from the 1930’s, 1940’s, and 1950’s, will be shown at Hawkins Memorial Library on Tuesday, March 19, and again on Wednesday, March 27, at 1:15 PM, both days. These “snippets” of past life in La Porte City, with appearances by many local people, were captured on the 8 mm movie camera of George Abel. A “viewing guide” will be available for attendees to use in following along.

George’s daughters, and local authors, Ruth Anne Abel Schneck and Janice Abel, are sharing this fun and nostalgic film in preparation for their From The Wishmore to You book and From The Wishmore to You Cookbook talk at the library, scheduled for Wednesday, April 3, at 6 PM.

Come in and sit a spell at the library to view and relive, or learn about, the past history of La Porte City. If you have a group request to view this movie at another time, please call Jolene at the library, 319-342-3025, to schedule.
