Shirley Hayungs, 67, of La Porte City, passed away Friday evening, November 20, 2015, surrounded by family, at La Porte City Specialty Care.
She was born November 21, 1947 in Waterloo, to Cliff and Clara (Furlong) Houser. On November 7th, 1964, she married Ron Hayungs in Waterloo.
She attended Prairie Lakes Church, was a member of the Red Hat Society, and numerous bowling leagues at Maple Lanes. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed taking road trips with Ron to see the sites around the country, and most importantly, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by: her husband, Ron, of La Porte City; daughter, Tonja Hayungs, of Gladstone MO; sons: Paul (Beth) Hayungs, of Eldridge, IA and Chuck (Danee) Hayungs of La Porte City; five grandchildren: Sarah, Emily, Sophie, Alex, and Jonah; and one great-grandchild, Claire; brother, Jack (Diane) Houser of Waterloo; and sister, Linda (Ron) Schmitz of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers Wayne Aldrich and Gene Aldrich; and sisters Darlene Cook and Beverly Mercurio.
Memorial services will be 7p. m. Tuesday November 24, 2015 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel 3146 Kimball Ave in Waterloo. Visitation will be held from 3 PM. until 7 PM. Tuesday November 24, 2015 also at the funeral home.
