The Union Knights softball team suffered their second loss of the season as they were defeated 4-1 by Aplington-Parkersburg in Parkersburg on June 4. The Knights scored only 1 run on 6 hits and committed 3 errors. The Falcons scored 4 runs on 5 hits and committed 2 errors. The Falcons started off the game strong by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning on a walk, 2 hits and 1 Knight error. Union scored their only run in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 3-1. Raini Hilmer doubled and scored on a Kailtin Holschlag single. A-P scored 1 more run in the fifth inning. The Knights stranded runners in three of the innings, left 5 runners on base, and were shut down by the Falcons solid defense. Both teams’ pitchers pitched both games of the double header. Peyton Parker picked up the lost for Knights giving up 4 runs, on 5 hits, while walking 2, and striking out 6. Union falls to 5-2 on the season.
