Knights drop Hudson in three innings

The Union Softball team improved their conference record to 2-1, with a strong win over Hudson on Monday, June 3rd. It only took the Knights’ offense three innings to score 13 runs, with freshman-to-be Peyton Parker throwing a shutout for those three innings, it was enough to end the game early.

Offensive momentum started when the Knights recorded six hits in the top of the second inning. For the game, the Knights were lead by Gina Harrill with 3 singles, 1 double; Raini Hilmer with a solo home run , 2 singles for Lauren Barz, a single and a double for Sam Barz, and Kaylee Sherwood added to the hit total with a double in the second inning.

On the mound Peyton Parker allowed 2 hits, 1 walk, and had 5 strikeouts, on the way to her second shutout of the young season.

The Knights are 4-5 in the early going, with the next home conference game set for Tuesday, June 18 at home, with a varsity only tilt against Hudson, beginning at 6 PM. The following Monday, June 24, the Knights will host Dike-New Hartford, with the junior varsity starting at 6 PM, followed by the varsity game.
