Do you have any old refrigerators, grills, bikes, fence, or any other scrap metal around your home and farm that you want to get rid of? If so, St. Paul United Methodist Church will help you dispose of it at its Annual Scrap Metal Drive on be held Saturday, September 20, from 8 AM to Noon at 501 Sycamore Street in La Porte City.
You can cleanup your place, possibly receive a tax deduction, and recycle that old metal by putting it back to use in our economy. Please bring your scrap metal to the church or schedule a pick up at your home or farm. Or if you have enough scrap metal to fill a dumpster, one can be delivered to your home or farm. If you would like to schedule a pick up, or if you need a dumpster delivered, please contact Gary Sheffler at 319-231-3082.
All types of metal will be accepted from an old swing set, BBQ grill, or farm equipment to car batteries, old water heaters, broken tools, broken appliances, fencing, and sheet metal. And you don’t even have to remove the Freon from old refrigerators! If it is mostly metal, it will be accepted. Items such as TVs and computer monitors will not be accepted.
Pastor Mike Gudka commented, “Start gathering up your scrap metal and get ready to clean out your basements, garages, and farms! Let’s clean up our community, get a tax deduction, and put that metal back to work!”
This is an ongoing annual event offered free to the community.
