LPC Chamber of Commerce Opens Visitor Center

On Thursday, June 18, members of the La Porte City Chamber of Commerce gathered at the former location of the La Porte City Utilities office for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate the space for a new purpose- a Visitor Center. The new center, located adjacent to City Hall at 200 Main Street, is a place where area residents and visitors new to the community can find information about La Porte City in the form of business cards, brochures and fliers that promote the various businesses, activities and events around town.
In the coming weeks, a large map of the community will be added to help newcomers and visitors find their way to the goods, services and community landmarks they seek.
The La Porte City Vistors Center came about as part of a cooperative effort involving the City of La Porte City and the Chamber of Commerce, who will continue to work together to maintain the facility and keep the information found there current. The center is expected to be open during for day and evening hours and can be accessed from the Main Street entrance.
