Bargains on the Bricks

Downtown La Porte City to Feature Unique, Vintage, and Hand-Crafted Products
On Saturday, September 20, shoppers perusing the citywide garage sales will find a bonanza of bargains awaiting them in downtown La Porte City, as the community’s first annual Bargains on the Bricks event will be hosted on Main Street from 10 AM to 5 PM. While Bargains on the Bricks shares the same date as the citywide garage sales, it is a uniquely different kind of shopping event, offering an eclectic mix of artisan, vintage, refurbished and hand-crafted items for sale.
Closed to vehicle traffic that day, vendors and shoppers alike will fill the downtown brick streets in the 300-500 blocks of La Porte City’s Main Street to barter for one-of-a-kind bargains not found elsewhere.
Organizers of the event encourage area residents to join the market mania, as booth rentals are still available. A 15×15 foot booth can be reserved for just $25, while a 15×30 booth is $45. A booth can be reserved by multiple vendors, so friends and family members, each with a small amount of vintage merchandise to sell, are encouraged to join together and share booth space. A limited number of food vendors will also be available. Applications for booths are still being accepted. The event will be held on September 20, rain or shine.
