On August 22, 2013, La Porte City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center will mark its 47th anniversary serving seniors in La Porte City and ninth year in its new facility, “The Lodge.”
La Porte City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center’s vision since 1966 has been “recognizing the need for a local nursing home to make it possible for our older citizens to remain among their friends and familiar surroundings when it is no longer practical for them to maintain their homes.”
Care Initiatives, the parent company for La Porte City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, is a non-profit organization with 44 skilled nursing facilities, eight assisted living facilities, and three independent living complexes across Iowa. La Porte City’s 46 bed facility is a part of the largest non-profit skilled nursing provider in Iowa.
As a non-profit organization, Care Initiatives’ mission is “to provide for the health and convalescent care needs of the elderly in local communities through pleasant, secure, and homelike health care facilities staffed by professionally trained and caring personnel. In addition, its mission is “to support charitable and benevolent causes which improve the quality of life of the elderly in the communities in which our facilities are located.”
Care Initiatives has invested resources for service and quality improvements in many ways:
Upgrading and maintaining building and grounds
Acquiring equipment for residents’ increased safety and mobility
Providing competitive staff wages and expanding benefits packages
Offering tuition assistance and student loan repayment for nursing
Enhancing staff training to improve resident quality of life and care
Securing additional nurse education for enhanced clinical services
Thanks to the community’s continued support and involvement with the Center’s seniors, La Porte CIty Nursing & Rehabilitation Center looks forward to many more years of service to the area.
