Voters in La Porte City will have several candidates from which to choose in November’s municipal election, which will decide who will serve as the City’s mayor and fill two of the five City Council seats. Incumbant David Neil will face two challengers who presently sit on the City Council for the office of Mayor. Eric Allsup will not seek to retain his Council seat when his term expires at the end of the year, seeking instead the office of mayor. Fellow Council member, Mike Johnson, will also be running for mayor. Johnson’s term on the City Council expires in 2019.
In the race for City Council, voters will fill two of the five available seats. Along with incumbent Brent Sadler, four other candidates- Stuart Grote, Sarah Logan, Gary Murphy and Tim Smith have declared their candidacy.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
