The Union baseball team split a doubleheader with Dike on June 3, dropping the first, 5-3, before winning the nightcap, 4-3.
In game one, Dike scored first with two runs in the top of the third off of Union starter Justin Carey. The Knights responded with one run in the bottom of the fourth as Alex Barz led off with a single. Running for Barz, Alex Krall later scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Alex Kane. Dike responded with two more runs in the fifth and one in the seventh to extend the lead, 5-1. Union mounted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh. After Dylan Stech reached on a walk, consecutive hits by Carey and Holschlag plated Stech. A sacrifice fly by Tecklenburg scored Carey, but that would be as close as the Knights could get, losing by the final score of 5-3.
Justin Carey suffered the loss, despite throwing a complete game, striking out seven and walking five. Carey, Holschlag and Barz led the Union attack with two hits each.
