In game one, Oelwein roughed up Union starter Derek Holschlag in the second inning scoring seven runs on four hits. Junior Alex Kane came in relief holding the Huskies to two runs over the next 3 2/3 innings.
Union got on the board in sixth inning by scoring three in the sixth. Holschlag reached after being hit by a pitch followed by Tecklenburg who walked and then a miss played ball hit by Barz plated the first run. Freshman Cael Lambe then had a two run, two out single that plated Tecklenburg and Barz. Union scored one more in the seventh when junior Alex Kane led off with a hit and was replaced by eighth grade Coby Alpers as a pinch runner. Alpers later scored on a RBI single by Holschlag.
The Union pitching staff was tagged for ten runs on seven hits. Holschlag took the loss while Kane and Lambe made appearances in relief. Holschlag, Lambe, Kane, and Stech all had hits for the Knights.
