The offense was rolling strong for the Union Knights as they completed a 2 game double header sweep of the Dike-New Hartford Wolverines on Monday, June 2 with a 10-7 win in La Porte City.  The Knights scored 10 runs on 16 hits and committed 4 errors.  Dike scored 7 runs on 6 hits and committed 2 errors.  Dike started out the game scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning.  The Knights scored 1 run in the bottom of second inning when Cierra Nolan singled, advanced to second on a Kaitlin Holschlag sacrifice bunt, and then scored on a Kaylee Sherwood RBI hard hit pass the shortstop. The Knights exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 7-2 lead by getting 7 hits, on 1 Wolverine error and 1 walk.   The Wolverines answered right back scoring 5 runs in the top of the fourth inning on 4 hits, 1 Knight error, and 1 walk.  Union took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Haylee Keune singled, advanced to second on a Maggie Driscol single, and scored on a Peyton Parker RBI single.  The knights then scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Kaylee Sherwood walked, advanced to second on a Emma Rottinghaus single.  Maggie Driscol then hit a single scoring Sherwood and Rottinghaus.  The Knights defense then held the 3 run lead behind pitcher Peyton Parker on the mound to preserve the win.  Raini Hilmer started on the mound for the Knights and then moved to first base as Parker came in and relived her.  The offense had their best night of the season getting 16 hits.  Maggie Driscol and Cierra Nolan lead the Knights with 3 hits apiece, while Jess Bohnstengel and Raini Hilmer had 2 hits apiece.  Union moved to 4-1 on the season, riding a 4 game win streak.
