After a 20 minute break, the Union Knights took the field for game two of a double header against Wapsie Valley. The Knights came away with a 2 game sweep by winning 2-1.  The Knights scored 2 runs on 8 hits and committed 1 error.  The Warriors scored 1 run on 4 hits and committed 0 errors.   The Knights started off the scoring in the bottom of the third inning with Hailee Brown singling, stealing second, advancing to third on a Maggie Driscol’s sacrifice bunt, and then scoring on Peyton Parker’s RBI single.  They then scored an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning with Maggie Driscol singling, stealing second, advancing to third on a Jess Bohnstengel’s sacrifice bunt, and then scoring on a hit by Raini Hilmer.  The Knights held Wapsie Valley scoreless until the top of the seventh inning as they scored one run to make the final score 2-1.  Peyton Parker started on the mound for the Knights, going all 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, and striking out 4.  Her four strikeouts added to her total last year of 96 to give her 100 strikeouts for her 2 year Knight pitching career.   She was aided on the evening by the great infield play of 8th grade 1st baseman Madison Tompkins who had 12 putouts and Cierra Nolan at 2nd Base with 4 putouts and 3 assists. The offensive leaders were: Peyton Parker going 2 for 3 and also Jess Bohnstengel getting on base 2 times.  The Knights are now 2-1 for the season.
