The La Porte City Lions Club will be kicking off the Home for the Holidays weekend by hosting their annual waffle breakfast on December 7, 2013. Breakfast will include waffles, sausages and eggs. The fee is $8 for adults and $4 for kids 10 and under. The breakfast will be held at La Porte City Veterans Memorial Hall. It will run from 6 AM to 11 AM.

Santa Claus and Mrs Claus will be present to listen to Christmas wish lists from 9:30-10:30 AM. The Lions will provide a money tree for kids with $25 on it. Each child will get one entry.

The Lions are raffling off three chances for $100 in Chamber Cheques. You can buy your tickets from a Lions member ahead of time or buy them at the breakfast. The cost per ticket is $5 or purchase 5 tickets for $20. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the LPC Parks and Recreation Department.

The Home for the Holidays event continues on Saturday with more activities on Main Street. First, stop into the Rusty Pig and pick up clues for the scavenger hunt and a voting coupon for the Deck the Doors contest. As you traverse up and down Main Street checking out giveaways and door prizes, watch for the Union Carolers and Santa Claus. Main Street activities conclude at 3 PM and the festivities move out tol the La Porte City Golf Club with Wally’s Winter Wonderland Christmas Party at 6 PM.
