William F. “Bill” Fratzke Sr., 68, of La Porte City, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center following a heart attack. He was born March 1, 1947 in Moline, IL the son of Frederick August and Madeline Rose (Penca) Fratzke. He was a 1965 graduate of La Porte City High School. He married Mary Jean Niemeyer on June 22, 1968 in La Porte City.
Bill worked at John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era.
He was a member of the La Porte City American Legion U.S.S. San Diego Post #207 and St. Paul United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of La Porte City; one son, Billy Fratzke, Jr. of La Porte City; one brother, Tom (Sharon) Fratzke of West Linn, Oregon; one sister-in-law, Linda Fratzke of La Grande, Oregon and five special little girls, Ruby, Lucy and Annie Parson and Alex and Leigh McIntosh.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, David Fratzke.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City with military rites conducted by the La Porte City American Legion U.S.S. San Diego Post #207. Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
